Frequently Asked Questions
What is Stefanie Hering x Studio M Lighting?
The Stefanie Hering x Studio M Lighting collection is a collaboration between Hering Berlin founder Stefanie Hering and Studio M, bringing together over 30 years of Hering’s porcelain expertise and Studio M’s design sensibility.
What materials are used in this collection?
Ray Dance pieces are crafted from handblown glass in Clear, Smoky Gray, and Rosé colorways. The Stream and Tropo families are made from bisque porcelain — an unglazed, matte-finish porcelain that diffuses light with a warm, velvety quality. Metal frame components in Tropo are available in Powdercoated White or Brushed Brass.
What finish and color options are available?
Options vary by collection family. Ray Dance glass is available in Clear, Smoky Gray, and Rosé, as well as curated mixed combinations of those colorways. Stream porcelain shades come in three finishes: Velvet (smooth matte), Pulse Horizontal Small Stripes (a refined textured stripe), and Ombré (a graduated dark-to-light tone). Tropo chandelier and wall sconces are available in Powdercoated White or Brushed Brass, with porcelain shades in Velvet, Ombré, or Pulse depending on the piece.
How configurable is the Stream lighting system?
Stream is the most modular family in the collection. It is available in single pendants (S, M, and L sizes), pendant clusters of 3 or 5 strings, and cascade clusters with 1, 3, 5, or 7 strings — with up to twelve shades suspended vertically on a single cable. Configurations can be further customized by cable length and the number of shades per string, making Stream particularly well-suited for dramatic installations in double-height spaces, stairwells, and atriums. To discuss the right configuration for your project, contact our team or inquire through the Kneen & Co trade program.
Does the Tropo chandelier offer adjustable lighting modes?
Yes. The Tropo chandeliers include a light module that enables three different light settings, allowing the fixture to shift between spatial ambient illumination and more directed light — making it adaptable to both daytime and evening environments.
Are these pieces suitable for large-scale commercial or hospitality installations?
Yes. Several families in the collection are designed with architectural scale in mind. Stream cascade clusters can accommodate up to 84 shades across a 7-string configuration and are well-suited for tall spaces such as stairwells, atriums, and hotel lobbies. The Tropo Chandelier 7 spans 1720mm in width, making it an exceptional choice for long dining tables in restaurant and private dining settings. Kneen & Co’s trade program is available to interior designers, architects, and hospitality buyers — offering trade pricing and access to custom design consultation for larger or bespoke projects.
Can the porcelain finishes be customized beyond the standard options shown?
Yes. The Stream and Tropo bisque porcelain shades can be customized with finishes from Hering Berlin’s broader portfolio, making them well-suited to bespoke residential and hospitality projects. For custom finish inquiries, contact Kneen & Co to be connected with a specialist.
